I took my shahadah within two weeks after inquiring about Islam…if I were to watch this documentary then, I would probably take only two seconds to accept Islam:D

I have been defending Islam, says Dalai Lama; Receives honorary degree from Islamic University

africacompany:

NEW DELHI: For Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama, receiving a honorary doctorate degree from Jamia Millia Islamia, “a university with a Muslim flavor,” was special.

“This degree from a university with a Muslim flavor is special as I am committed to religious harmony. Since September 11, I have been defending Islam. For a few misguided people we should not blame a religion. Islam is one of the important religions in the planet, and hope for millions of people,” said the Dalai Lama on Tuesday.

The Degree of Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa) was conferred on the 14th Dalai Lama by vice-chancellor Najeeb Jung at Jamia’s annual convocation. Union HRD, science, technology, communication, and IT minister Kapil Sibal was present.

In a short message, Dalai Lama urged the students to strive towards a peaceful world. He started his speech by requesting those present not to misunderstand him for use of wrong words because “my English is not so good.” “We should not generalize Muslims for a few mischievous followers of Islam. There are mischievous elements in all religions, including Hinduism and Buddhism. Problems we are facing in the world today are our own creation. To create a harmonious society, we need young people with vision and for that education and moral ethics should go hand in hand,” said Dalai Lama.

Paying tribute to the spiritual leader, Jung deviated from the conventional vice-chancellor’s address and urged those present “to soak in the presence of His Holiness and the values he shares with our ancient land.”

Lauding India’s pluralism, Jung said: “The Jamia envisioned by its founders, was a pioneering teaching institution that would make Muslims full partners in the great project that is Indian pluralism. This pluralism is sometimes simplified into Hindu-Muslim amity. But this is to diminish the grandeur of the pluralist ideal.”

Animals are beautiful and magnificent creations of Allah and they too, posses feelings! As righteous Muslims, we are taught to take care, love and have mercy on ALL kinds of animals; cats, goats, dogs and even small insects! So the next time you see a starving, meowing cat by the sidewalk, why not offer some food for it? With that minor action, Allah might just grant you Paradise, insyallah.

• Narrated by Abdul Rahman bin Abudllah bin Mas’ud : We were on a journey with the Prophet (pbuh), and he left us for a while. During his absence, we saw a bird called hummara and we took the eggs. The mother bird was circling above us in the air, beating its wings in grief, when the Prophet came back and said: “Who has the feelings of this bird by taking its young (eggs)? Return them out of mercy to her” [Al-Adab Al-Mufrad Al-Bukhari #382 ]

• The Prophet (s.a.w.) said “ While a man was walking he felt thirsty and went down a well and drank water from it. On coming out of it, he saw a dog panting and eating mud because of excessive thirst. The main said, “This dog is suffering from the same problem as that of mine”. So he went down the well, filled his shoe with water, caught hold of it with his teeth and climbed up and watered the dog. Allah thanked him for his good deeds and forgave him”

The Prophet (pbuh) were asked: “Is there a reward for us in serving the animals?” He replied “Yes, there is a reward for serving any animal” [ Al-Adab Al-Mufrad Al-Bukhari # 378 ]

In truth everything and everyone
Is a shadow of the Beloved,
And our seeking is His seeking
And our words are His words…
We search for Him here and there,
while looking right at Him.
Sitting by His side, we ask:
‘O Beloved, where is the Beloved?’

Alhamdililah: I'm going to wear the hijab to school.

I’m incredibly nervous and imagining a million scenarios in my head: “Why are you wearing that thing on your head?” she asked, scanning my body with curious eyes. Lingering her stare at my headscarf, she placidly curved her lips with a smug expression. The familiar feeling of inferiority rushed…

My brother-in-law…

I never truly understood how much my masjid meant to me, till now..

I’m saddened by the pure ignorance of people. At roughly 2:30am Sunday morning the local Mosque in Corvallis was targeted by an arsonist. Luckily only the administrator’s office was subject to damage due to the quick response of CPD/CFD. It breaks my heart that a whole community has been blamed/targeted for the actions of a single radical individual. Such conduct does not in any way represent Islam or Muslims, rather it goes against it. In Islam, one finds no justification whatsoever on any form of violence against civilians the local Muslim vehemently condemn such abhorred plot and all other forms of Terrorism and Extremism. Islam teaches that God Almighty declares that killing an innocent person unjustly is like killing all of mankind and saving a person’s life is like saving all of mankind. I have lived all my life in Corvallis, and never in my wildest dreams would I believe that we would be subjected to such hate crimes. The local Mosque is a place of worship, a house of god, a second “home” to some, and in no way shape or form a school for extremists. I was hoping that people would have the intellect to differentiate between religion and an individual’s radical actions. Does this mean I need to watch my back wherever I go for the chance that I have been targeted by some radical fanatic. What about our mothers and sisters who wear the religious headdress, how are we supposed to be at peace not knowing if they are safe to go out in public? What have they done to deserve this? Does everyone have to suffer due to one man’s actions? The attempt to burn down the local Mosque is impenetrable evidence that someone else, not underneath the tag of Islam is capable of shaking a community, installing fear, and destruction. The actions of the individual or individuals of this hate crime are beyond doubt TERORISTS. It brings tears to my eyes that such radical fanatics exist. I pray that we all have the capacity to be outspoken when such malicious crimes occur.
