Abu Hurairah said, An Arab of the desert stood up and began urinating in the mosque. People were about to take hold of him but the Prophet ﷺ said to them: “Leave him alone and throw a bucket of water over his urine, for you have been raised to deal with people gently and you have not been raised to deal with them harshly.”

(Being a desert Arab, the man was not aware of the sacred character of the mosque)
